YOGA: Your fitness guru!
What is Yoga ?
The literal translation of the word “yoga”
from Sanskrit (known as the original language of yoga) is “union,” says
Sherwin.
And that is the proper basis for describing
yoga as we know it today, he explains. "We define it as connecting the
mind and body through the spirit."
Many people are already aware of the physical
benefits of yoga and think of it as a form of exercise, says Sherwin. But yoga
goes further. “The real way of life; The situation is only one part.
Yoga History
The origins of Yoga can be traced back to
northern India 5,000 years ago. The word yoga is first mentioned in the ancient
scriptures known as the Rig Veda. The Vedas are a collection of four ancient
Sanskrit texts. The Rig Veda is the first of the vedas and is a collection of
more than a thousand songs and mantras in ten chapters known as the mandala,
used by priests of the Vedic period. Yoga was developed and refined by Rishis (scholars) who wrote down their beliefs
and practices in the Upanishads, a masterpiece containing over 200 texts.
Yoga is one of the six schools of philosophy
in Hinduism, and is a major part of Buddhism and its meditation rites.
Although yoga is traditionally practiced to
promote well-being on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level, it is
generally not viewed as a religious institution. Yoga can be practiced in a
completely secular way, and is practiced by people of all faiths, as well as
atheists and atheists, according to the Yoga Alliance.
4 TYPES OF YOGA IN 4 ASPECTS
These are just four facts in your life: body,
mind, emotions, and energy.
Whatever you wish to do with it, it must be in
these four levels. Whatever you wish to do, you can do only with your body,
your mind, your emotions, or your strength.
* If you use your emotions and try to reach
the end, we call this bhakti yoga. That means a way of giving up.
* If you use your ingenuity and try to reach
the end, we call this gnana yoga. That means the way of wisdom.
* When you use your body, or physical activity
to reach the end, we call this karma yoga. That means how to do it.
* If you change your energy and try to reach
the end, we call this kriya yoga. That means an internal action.
YOGA - THE LAST UNION
When we say "yoga", for many of you it
probably means an impossible physique or hard core poses. That's not what we are talking about here. Yoga
simply means having a perfect voice. When you do yoga, your body, mind and
energy and your presence are completely compatible. When your body and mind are
relaxed and at a certain level of happiness, you can be free from many of the
diseases that worry you. Let’s say, go sit in your office with a headache. Your
headache is not a major ailment, but just having a stroke may diminish your
enthusiasm for the job and possibly your ability for the day. But with practice
yoga, your body and mind can be kept in a very high position.
